The microphone not working, just blibs of noise. Alcatel Avalon 5059S
The microphone doesn't work, loudspeaker does work. What am I overlooking?

Is the phone in a case at all?
If so, remove it from the case and check if you can be heard OK when on a call.
If not, try using a strong light and a magnifying glass to visually check if the voice inlet hole on the bottom edge of the phone is blocked with lint or other debris.
If it is (or if you’re not sure) use a vacuum cleaner to try and clear it.
Do not use a metal pin or probe to try and clear it as you may damage any components that may be directly behind the hole.
If it still fails to work properly, there may be a problem with the phone’s microphone. The phone will have to be open and further inspected to find out what the problem is.

Port is clear, all I see inside is the loudspeaker
It may be a faulty microphone then.
The microphone is the gold 2nd component to the right of the USB connector located on the USB charge port board (supplier example only], below the vibrate motor
I couldn't find the actual microphone as a separate part but changing the board may be the easiest option.
There may be other suppliers that suit you better. I didn't search too hard before I found this one. Just search for "Alcatel Avalon 5059S USB charge board" to get results.
