I have changed the display an the new one is not working.

Hello, I have a question for you.

I bought a 4th gen screen from ebay because my original screen was plenty of white lines and later the screen was completely broken. I have changed it, and the new screen still having white lines and a lot of problems.

Is that because the new screen I bought was broken too or because I have another problem (with the display power cable maybe? ) and it doesn't matter if I change the screen or not?

I'm planning to buy one from you, but I would appreciate if you can let me know about my problem before.

What do you think? My problem is regardind the screen because the new one was broken too or my problem comes from the display cable?

Help me please!

Many many thanks in advance.

While E-bay isnt the most reliable place for parts, I think your transplant is still a decent indicator that the screen isn't the (entire) problem. I would try doing a thurough cleaning of the connectors before attempting to purchase another screen. You might also consider doing a hard reset to rule out software as a potential issue.

Unfortunately if cleaning the connectors and the screen swap didn't work, it's possible that the logicboard is toast, but let's try these fixes first! Let us know what happens.

+ makes perfect sense. I seem to recall that the 4th gen Nano had some issue with corrosion on the connectors and cables. Check for some greenish looking residue.

Many thanks for your answer.

How do I do a hard reset? I did a reset from itunes many times and it didn't work.

And how can I do a cleaning of the connectors?

I will see if there's some residue too, but if there is some, how can I clean it? I mean, do I need some special cleaner or something?

Greetings from Spain.

Raz,

For the hard reset, flip your lock switch from unlocked, to locked, to unlocked, then press and hold the center and menu buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Once you release the buttons (or possibly while you're still holding) the apple logo should pop up and it will begin it's start up sequence. Note that any data that may have been on the Nano before will be lost.

For the connector cleaning, just use a high content rubbing alcoohol (minimum 80%) and a Q-tip to gently scrub the connectors...compressed air works well too. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL, these are small fragile parts!

Ok, I will try. Many thanks for your answers. Anyway I suppose the ipod is lost...
