I am experiencing the question mark folder error after few hours of on-time. Internet posts point to the hard drive cable being the issue which led me to here.

It’s a matter of which bay the boot drive is in and what you have for drives.

@dennyho93 - Best to check as Apple did both ways ;-{

Follow this guide to Step 5 Mac mini Late 2012 Logic Board Replacement You just need to lift the fan up to check the cable connections

BTW - Here’s the other cable: Mac mini A1347 (Mid 2011-Late 2012) Lower SATA Cable

The kit offers the needed tool to open the system, that U shaped tool, needed drivers & screws.
