How should I clean fingerprints off my iPad LCD?

Hi,

I recently repaired an iPad 7 and when I was done I noticed a bit of fingerprints and a bit of b7000 glue on the lcd so I tried to clean it using a microfiber cloth but that didnt work. I was wondering would it be possible for me to clean the LCD with 99% IPA on a paper towel or would that damage the display. I know its normally fine if it touches electronic parts but I dont know about the LCD as im not sure if it has a protective coating and/or if the IPA will seap into the LCD and leave a liquid mark on the screen when turned on.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @picklefixesstuf ,

Use a lint free cloth or a microfibre cloth lightly dampened with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available from electronics parts stores) and gently wipe the screen to clean it. Using a paper towel will leave lint particles on the screen as the alcohol evaporates.

The alcohol will evaporate quickly and will leave no residues. If possible avoid using “rubbing alcohol” as this is usually only 70% IPA or less, can contain additives which may leave residues and is not as effective.

Ensure that the tablet is turned off when you clean the screen to prevent any possible electrical problems from occurring whilst cleaning

I appreciate the confirmation and I will make sure to use a microfiber cloth when I clean the LCD.
