Why is laptop slow on startup

What is the full model number of the laptop?

How much ram (memory) is installed? If Win 10 is the OS then 8GB is usually the minimum amount required for reasonable performance.

Check in Task Manager > Startup to see how many programs are loaded on startup and if they are necessary or not. To get to Task manager right click on the Taskbar and click on the Task manager link

A lot of programs when first installed are set to be "pre-loaded" every time the PC is started so that they open faster IF and when they're needed.

If you don't use them often they tie up resources unnecessarily (i.e. ram) Some are necessary for correct operation but not all. If you don't know what the program is for check online to see what it does.

To disable the program in Startup right click on it and select disable and restart the laptop and check if it starts better. This does not disable the program it will still work from the program menus or the desktop icon, just a bit slower to open that's all.

If disabling it causes a problem simply re-enable it the same way as you disabled it. I suggest that you disable only 1 at a time and check that everything is OK before disabling any more (if there are some) just in case. This way if there is a problem you know which one you have to enable again.

If you have a 3rd party anti virus program installed, disable it for 10 minutes and check how the PC works. Remember that the AV is disabled so if you go online be careful what you're doing.

Also run an sfc /scannow command just to make sure that all the system files are OK
