Product not found - S1 setup not working - bluetooth broken

I recovered my Sonos Connect (2013) sleeping beauty from the basement (I did not try to kiss it) and wanted to set it up again from scratch, with the S1 app. I factory-reset it, rebooted it, but the app cannot find it. I tried with the app on the iPhone and iPad. Sonos support says the bluetooth must be broken, I can get a voucher for a discount on a new one. Any ideas how I(can)Fixit?

Hi,

Is the device showing up in the BT available devices list in the phone or Ipad (not the app)?

If not try placing the device within 10cm of the phone or iPad and check if it is detected or not.

Hi Jayeff

Many thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, no, it's showing up. I asked Sonos Support about this and he said it's some kind of BT light and would not show up. I do not have another Sonos device any more, so cannot check.

@Matthias Schneider

Did you mean WiFi and not Bluetooth?

Just checking and it seems the Connect uses WiFi but I may be wrong.

Can you connect to it using a wired setup at all?

из

Bluetooth. Sonos support says the phone needs to connect to the Sonos device by Bluetooth first, to set up the connection with the WIFI.

I connected the Sonos to the LAN and it acquired an IP address, but unfortunately there seems to be no way to set up the device only using a wired connection.

@posai

So this doesn't work either?

If it doesn't connect to the router using WiFi (as it did using Ethernet cable) then check if the WiFi card is seated correctly in the device, as the BT and WiFi share the same card.

Here's the ifixit Sonos Connect WIFI Card Replacement guide that may help

Hi @posai

I would still remove/replace the WiFi card and then check.

It is not unknown for plug in card connections to go high resistance after a long period of no use.

Removing and replacing the card cleans the connectors as it "scrapes" the contact surfaces as it is being withdrawn and then inserted, cleaning off any corrosion etc.

Besides which you've got nothing to lose, except a bit of time and everything to gain if this works.

Hi, many thanks. I tried but with all the glue unfortunately I damaged some bits.
