Why is my fridge Not cooling

I have a problem with my Frigidaire fridge model number is frs3r5embg I feel like I checked everything it is constantly running and blows air that is slightly cold but isn't cold enough all the fans are working and the condenser kicks on and the coils aren't dirty and none of the vents are blocked I got the fridge from a friend for free that said he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it also when I took out the back cover I noticed this wire plug that wasn't going to anything I don't see anything that it needs to go to all other plugs are plugged into something so I don't know if it's supposed to be a dead end or what it's for if anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it

is the fridge under warranty still?

you could use a wiring diagram to see if the unplugged plug is supposed to be plugged in.

No the fridge isn't under warranty and I tried to look at some wiring diagrams but I couldn't really tell if it was supposed to be plugged in

How old is this refrigerator? After ten years or so (unfortunately not as long lasting as they were in years past) the sealed refrigeration unit containing refrigerant may be worn out and expensive to repair. You might make an initial assessment by feeling the compressor and two lines from it. One line should be hot (compressor output) while the other lukewarm (refrigerant returning to compressor). If you know someone familiar with refrigeration systems, he/she may have a better idea if a repair is worth it or not.

I think the unit was manufactured in 2009 the compressor does get warm I'm not sure about the lines

Hi @george68984

Is the compressor motor running continually trying to get the temp down to the set temp?

If so it may be either due to a lack of refrigerant (leak?), a blockage in the sealed system or a faulty compressor.

To find out what and where the problem is you may have to get the sealed system low and high pressures checked. Depending on your location you may need a licensed repairer to do this due to the environmental regulations regarding the handling of refrigerant gases. Also they have the appropriate equipment to do the testing and repair.

Here's the service data sheet for the model that may help. It details the low and high sealed system pressure values and also the compressor Amps values
