Hello, I got two new iPhone 7 replacement screens but they didn’t come with oleophobic coating, so I have to clean it very often. Is there a substitute material found around the house that can be used as oleophobic coating for the screen?

Hi Owen,
That's odd that your replacement screens didn't come with that coating; it's never occurred to me to check for that on any of the many screens I've purchased.
I don't know of any way to apply an oleophobic coating to an existing piece of glass, but I've always been a firm believer in glass screen protectors. Since virtually all of them come with an oleophobic coating, that seems like an easy way to both protect your new screen and get the coating you want.

Aw man, I just thought that there would be an answer that didn’t involve screen protectors. Apple must have put the coating on somehow right?
@wen90804 Well I'll be - apparently you can put on your own oleophobic coating! And it's even documented here on iFixit.

@wen90804 The coating is listed in the parts list for the guide; it's available on Amazon. I have no idea what the quality of it is; check the reviews for other people's experience with it.

i never sell a rehab/refurb/repaired phone without putting on a tempered glass screen protector. average cost to me, about $0.75. value to customer once i explain the benefit of having it on the screen and that i've installed it for free (not really free, i factor it into the cost of my work) - priceless. i'll often times include a single-use screen wipe packet (a well recognized brand that anyone can purchase retail - not those cheap 1 & 2 wipes are included for installation and usually are too dry to be useful) and explain the benefits of regular cleaning and showing your screen (protector) some love.
so, as this regards to your case, see if you can get the vendor to replace them, or find out if they were even supposed to have said coating. but a screen protector would solve your problem.
