Sounds like the battery is swollen and has expanded forcing the case to come apart.

Do not attempt to charge the device or use it if possible until this has been checked out.

Here's a teardown video that may help to gain access to the battery.

If the battery is swollen then it needs to be replaced and the faulty battery responsibly disposed of at a suitable recycling centre.

Search online for SB18C53810 to find battery suppliers that suit you best.

If doing this yourself seems too daunting contact a reputable, professional laptop or mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote.
