Sim fell out of tray and into the tray area of phone and seems now to be trapped inside. Frightened that by inserting pins etc to try to free it and shake it out I am actually jamming it in further. I would greatly appreciate any reliable solutions. I so badly need and rely on this sim, not to mention the mobile itself.

Safest way would be to open the phone and see if you can gently move the SIM card back out without damaging the card reader pins.
Here's a teardown video that will help. The SIM/SD reader is visible at approx. 3:20 minutes into the video.
