Why laptop screen is not displaying

Please confirm the full model name of the laptop as there are a lot of models having the W840AU model number and their specifications aren't all the same.

Try connecting an external monitor (TV?) to the laptop's HDMI port and check if there's a display on it coming from the laptop.

If there is a display on the external monitor, then try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the laptop screen and check if you can see any images at all on the screen. They will be very faint, so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.

If you can see images on the laptop screen, then there is a screen backlight problem in the laptop. Either a faulty backlight power circuit on the motherboard, a faulty video cable between the motherboard and the screen or a faulty screen.

If you can't see any images on the laptop screen, then it is either a faulty video cable between the motherboard and the screen or a faulty screen.

If there's no display on the external monitor then either you haven't pressed the correct function keys to extend the display to an external monitor from the laptop or the laptop hasn't started i.e. hasn't passed POST (power on self test) after you turned it on
