Rubber door for DC power adapter cable

Hello from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil!

I’ve been checking some of my older equipments and noticed in my 40D that the small rubber door for the DC power adapter cable (on the inner bottom of the grip of the body, around where the pinky would rest) close to the battery door, was completely dried out and dissolving into particles…

I decided to take it off but can’t find a replacement for it. The ones I’ve found that looks more similar are for 5d/5dII, for 60/70D, and for the 7D, but I don’t know if any of these would really fit well in the 40… the are just rectangular and looking more alike than the other models do. The service and parts manual of any of these cameras talk about this little rubber door.

Next is the picture of what’s left from it trying to see if the numbers would point me to any direction…

And this is from the parts manual where it is located:

Another tip that I would appreciate is what needs to be disassembled to reinstall the part if I find one… I’ve been observing and maybe the bottom plate is the piece I need to pull of, but maybe I need to follow a determined order to get the bottom plate of…

Thank you very much for any help!

It's likely NLA at this point, given the age of the 40D :/. I remember when I had my EOS T3 and someone abused it; if they stopped at the port cover, I'd let it go but it got to the point the camera was dropped, the filter I put on fell out of the frame, and moved around and the USB port broke and I demanded they make me whole and told them to shove that abused camera in a dark corner for all I care, essentially; including the 18-55 IS II. I was done with them, and I was never being nice again.

Maybe a donor has it but imma be real here: Seek out a newer body like the 77D (T7i with "double-digit D" LCD and the 1/4000 shutter from the T7i and very similar firmware) or 80D (1/8000 shutter). It ain't worth trying on a 40D which has an obsolete AF system and DIGIC processing that's been superseded many times over. See my 80D as to how similar it probably is:

Looks like the part number might be CB5-3150. Fair warning: I used my 80D for this due to the likely NLA status of the 40D part.

Thank you very much for your answer, Nick! Yah, I mean, our tropical weather in Rio really doesn’t help at all in conservational issues… hot and humid, close to the beach… it’s beautiful, but it makes a mess! Hahah and well, it still amazes me that this camera is still working, that the batteries are still working, etc. I had already changed the usb + etc cover a few years ago.

That said, yah, I have already upgraded the camera! This is just like my old 14yo baby that I’m trying to keep up. I might buy the parts from the 5d, 7d and 60d to try it out if any of them fits, even if I have to adapt it somehow…

To get this piece in and out, I have to take the bottom cover… but I guess I need to strip down the front and the back cover panels to take of the bottom? Am I wrong?

Again, thank you very much!
