Very Low Battery. Please Wait

Okay so i just found my old iPod that hasn’t been used for years. The first time I charged, it was charging well but it took for the ipod for like 3-4 hours to power on itself. Everything was fine, the display was working fine, the ipod was charging, except for the click wheel, the click wheel wasn’t responding to anything. The menu, the select, everything! The hold switch was off, i tried turning the switch on and off but nothing. I tried to unplugged it but a minute later it died.

The second time i charged it, the click wheel was responding since i managed to turn it on by the click wheel, but after turning it on the boot was different there is a black background on the apple logo on a monochrome like screen and after that it displays “Please Wait. Very low battery” before the iPod turns off shortly.

The first time i charged the iPod there was no boot screen and it was on the track that i left on many years ago. It just suddenly turned on

The Cable I'm using right now is the 4s’s 30 pin charger and the power brick that came with it. Also the first time i charged it, i charged it on the usb port on the extension that looks like this.

So what is the problem here, the iPod or the charger?

I have a different iPod, but for a long time the battery was very weak but it still worked fine plugged in. The battery finally started eating too much and got fat. I changed it. All is well now.

If it doesn't work plugged in, something else might be going on, but I would start with a new battery.

It kinda works plugged in, since to turn on my ipod, it always needs to be plugged in. I want to try and replace the battery but i don't think ifixit ships in the Philippines so im looking for simple solutions that doesn't require opening the ipod.

So what are simpler solutions to fix it?

Also the ipod seems to be charging very slowly... Since it was indicating it was charging when the display was on for a minute before i think it was a good idea to unplug it. So.. should i try putting it on the extension port and leave it charging for 4 hours again?
