iPhone XS Max Turns on but Black Screen

My friend gave me his old iPhone XS Max and he said it didnt work, now im experienced in technology but i just cant find this one out. what happened was i charged it for the whole day and did volume up down and then power button while plugged in and iTunes was able to recognize it so i restored it and now it asked me for my friends apple id so i did that and i think it went passed the activation screen because i can switch the silence button and i can feel the vibration from the phone but the screen is just black. I refuse to buy a new screen because i saw it cost 120 dollars and that would put a pretty big hole in my pocket

I think that buying a replacement screen might be your only option... You might be able to find an IC locked iPhone XS max, and use the screen from that, but that option is only sometimes cheeper. You might also want to remove the screen to see if it is a display data cable, but this is most likely not the case, as they are screwed down under brackets. EDIT: I found an XS Max replacement screen on Amazon for only 40 bucks.

I agree. I also checked ebay and found some knock-offs for $20-30. These would not be the *best* idea, but they might at least be able to make the phone usable. They do have a few decent reviews as well.

Just so you should know He dropped the phone and then it suddenly just turned off but the phone was still on and had the noises and everything. It Could be the display cable but either way can you still send me the screen replacement? im gonna open up the phone in a bit.

It could very well be the cable. You should still open up the phone to check though, as it could be another issue, but that is not likely, as you said that the silence button worked.
