Remove Existing Joystick Solder

I am trying to replace the joystick due to it sticking/stick drift; however, I cannot remove the existing solder. Does anyone have any tips or am I doing it wrong? I also believe I've burnt the circuit board but luckily this is a practice one.

Hi @jayshiz

I would apply flux to the solder joints and use low melt solder to mix with the existing (probably lead free) solder. It will make it easier to reflow them with a heat gun or a soldering iron.

Once you managed to get it out, clean the holes with solder wick and you'll have no problem installing the new stick.

Hope it helps!

sorry, your initial comment was incredibly helpful, but could you explain more how using a heat gun will reflow, I have a very basic understanding of soldering, but I'm still learning, and there's no tutorials online explaining this. Thanks!

I am in the process of making a guide how to do it. I will link it here so you can follow it along.
