Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Battery Replacemen

I need a new battery for my SURFACE PRO 8 tablet, model 1983. Can't find using ifixit. Can the battery of PRO 7 or PRO 9 also fit?

Hi @bigjoe43996

I doubt they will be compatible, as they all have different cable connections and also different part numbers as can be seen in the links below..

Surface Pro 8 battery (part # 96BTA016H), Surface Pro 7 battery (part # GTH3A061H), Surface Pro 9 battery (part # MQ20)

Search online for 96BTA016H to find suppliers that suit you best (examples only)

Not sure why you linked a Pro 9 battery when you need a Pro 8 battery unless it is for a price difference example?

OEM batteries are usually the best if you can get them but if not check the warranty or returns conditions of the suppliers that suit just in case there's a problem.

Usually the more reputable offer only 12 months warranty which is reasonable as they cannot control what the user does in regards to maintaining the battery charge etc over a period of time.

Sorry, you are absolutely right. It's my mistake. I didn't notice it was a battery for a more advanced model.

By the way, realizing such responsibility is difficult. I live in one country, the supplier ships from another country, and all the dismantling work is no small matter. But in the situation where my battery today holds at most two hours of continuous work (if not less), the replacement is necessary.

The battery for the OEM Pro 9 you linked only has a 12 month warranty as well so you may have to trust your instincts if you can't get an OEM battery (and even if you can) and go with the warranty and reputation of the seller.

Google them for reviews as sellers perhaps.

Cheers
