Nothing shows on screen after CMOS reset, what could be wrong here?

Have this laptop working great in the past, however, it stopped working after trying to upgrade windows 11 from 10, what happened are:

  1. Only Dell logo shows up on screen, noting else comes up, no bios loading or anything, just Dell logo stays, so, I guess the CMOS battery needs to be reset in order for BIOS to be detected.
  2. Disconnect the battery cable.
  3. Discount the CMOS battery and wait for 30 seconds and reconnect it.
  4. Connect the laptop battery back.
  5. Press the power button, the diagnostic indicator light (the one at center in front edge) lighted solid for about 2 seconds, then after 1 or 2 seconds, the fan is on for about 1 second, then everything turns off.
  6. Nothing shows on screen after step 4 above.
  7. Try to connect the charger cable and redo step 5, same thing.

What could be wrong here? Quite frustrating.

By the way, the condition of laptop battery is very poor, only hold charge for a short of time and needs to be replaced though.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

@lovecd - Can you get into the BIOS Setup Menu by holding the ESC Key? (Could also be Del, F1, F12, etc.)

@jadonlyon -- No, that's why I tried to reset CMOS in order to access to BIOS Menu. Unfortunately, it seems even worse after doing that, and nothing shows up on screen at all now (I can see Dell logo shows up on screen before resetting the CMOS).

@lovecd - Unfortunately I don't know enough about this PC model, and therefore I won't be of much help. Sorry :(

But, here's what I would suggest:

- Try booting the PC without the battery

- Try booting without the internal HDD

- Leave the PC on for a longer period of time.

- Try accessing the BIOS Menu with an external keyboard.

- Unplug everything (power adapter, battery, etc.) and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.

Based on this documentation :

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us...

It could be a bios or rom failure

@Senopati B. -- I don't see any pattern listed is the same as mine, the light on mine is just solid white for 2 or 3 seconds, no blinking, not sure which one should I check on that chart, any thoughts?
