What’s wrong with this gameboy pocket screen?

I have a gameboy pocket screen with this weird thing on the side. It does not look like screen burn and I don’t know what exactly it is. Can anyone help me identify it?

Hi Albert!

It does look like it's physically damaged and that the liquid leaked behind the screen.

Anyway, to get it fixed again you need a new screen.
