Nespresso Citiz water leaking problem

Hello all,

When I press either the Espresso or Lungo button, all the water leaks out from the bottom of the machine. Could you help me understand what might be causing this issue and whether it can be fixed?

I purchased the machine in 2021, and I’m quite disappointed with its lifespan, as it’s the shortest I’ve experienced with a Nespresso machine. I called Nespresso Customer Service and they said they won't repair it and asked me to buy a new one.

I’d appreciate any advice or guidance you can provide to resolve this issue.

Did you review questions in the right side box? There may be disassembly instructions along with parts to replace. Diy repairs can save on labor/parts charges if appliance repairs are available near you. You won't know what damage occurred until disassembling the unit.

A water leak would suggest something containing the water has broken.

It could simply be a hose has come loose or sprung a leak. If so, it likely should be replaced since the end might be stretched. It is possible a plastic piece holding the hose as on the flowmeter assembly broke or the flowmeter is leaking.

You would need to open it up and eyeball it for those conditions.

Here is a disassembly video. It shows 2 hoses. There may be more.

I wonder how he removed all the screws at the beginning of the video to remove the base/bottom. The screws they used cannot be removed by normal screwdriver :(

1) Is the leaking water cold or warm?

-> This tells you whether the leakage originates upstream or downstream of the thermoblock.

If the water is warm/hot:

2) Does the water leakage only occur when operating with coffee pod, but not when operating without coffee pod (i.e. only water)?

And after it occured, has the main lever got very hot and wet and its underside?

-> In this case it could be a thin crack in the top of the brewing unit.
