Is my logic board bad?

Hi,

My computer will not power up at all, -No light, no fan spin nothing-it acts like a 100% dead machine!! I found 4 big leaked capacitors on the power supply.

I was wondering if the logic board is possibly bad too.

However the logic board looks fine and I couldn't detect any visible failed spots on it.

Thanks

Its most likely not. Typically when a power supply goes bad it supplies under voltage not over voltage, which typically doesn't damage sensitive electronics. Caps in power supplies typically act as waveform smoothers that make the dc a more steady level. You may have drained your CMOS battery so you may have to change your time/date but in most computers the rest should be fine.

So to be clear, OP needs to get a new power supply?

I can't say for sure, only someone with the proper training, testing instruments, and parts, sitting directly in front of the device could answer that. However, I would start with the power supply, since it is typically much cheaper to replace than the logic board, and then continue to the logic board next, if that doesn't solve the problem (assuming that you've determined the cord isn't the problem either, its usually not, but one thing to consider). The OP stated they found bad caps in their PS, and no visable damage to logic board, however, with my experience, you cant always trust visual inspections with SOIC components since they are SO small, but like I said I'd start the the cheapest, most likely fix, before moving on to more expenseive modules.
