I followed the guide to remove the entire display assembly (screen/top part) so the repair went fine. It took me a lot longer than I thought because of a bit of struggle removing the glass but really because of the plastic clutch cover! I hate having to snap and slide things into place. I'm always afraid I'll break them. Especially when they're neither sturdy nor flexible, like the plastic clutch cover is. This small piece of plastic is why I took over 2 hours. Removing it was easy. It was putting it back on that was not, for me.

Advice? I've read comments from people who had a hard time removing the glass from the screen. I also seemed to have a hard time.
REMOVING GLASS
As I heated the bezel (low heat to high in counter clockwise direction) and tried removing the glass, I found that the adhesive underneath the glass would cool down far too quickly (about 10 seconds), making it difficult to remove the glass. I did not want to use too much force and have the same broken glass outcome some people unfortunately had. So what I did was pull as I heated. As I slowly started directing heat towards the upper left corner (after starting in the upper right corner), I placed the suction cup on the upper right corner and pulled upward. It worked! The glass started lifting up with ease! At this point I was heating the glass in areas it wasn't lifting, not always heating counter clockwise. The glass eventually came off. Prior to this success, I had tried removing the glass for about 10-15 minutes. With the new approach, it didn't take me 5 minutes. Also, you may not want to use a pick or a card to slide underneath the glass to help with removal. I mention why on "Reinstalling Glass". (If you have a suction cup, you won't need a pick/card anyway.)
I used a heat gun, not a hair dryer. Some people have had success with hair dryers, others have not. If using a heat gun, after switching to high heat, don't keep the heat in one place for long; the glass may bubble. Also, I advise you to follow the complete guide to disconnect the entire display assembly/screen. It's not difficult nor scary and as long as you keep track of all your screws. It doesn't take long either. You'll need T6 Torx and Phillips #00 screwdrivers. Small, thin cables and wires are what you have to be careful with. If you're careful, you'll be fine. You won't even need a spudger. I advise for the entire display/screen removal so you don't risk melting the plastic clutch cover or keyboard.
REINSTALLING GLASS
The adhesive strips are reusable. Just make sure you try not to touch them or dirty them. Using a pick/card may misshapen the adhesive strips and take away stickiness. After installing the lcd panel, heat the metal rim of the screen just enough to warm it up. If adhesive strips were left behind on the rim, heat those just before they seem to start melting. If adhesive strips stood stuck on the glass, heat those just as above. Now put the glass back on. Remember heating and pulling? Well now we're heating and pressing. The glass should be on for good. If you're installing a new piece of glass, you'll need adhesive strips if the glass doesn't have any. Regardless, if installing new glass, remember to heat the adhesive strips for a strong bond.
I can't give advise on the process to remove the display as I didn't have problems with it. I think you should be fine if you follow the guide. Also, I used the heavy duty suction cups ifixit sells. You can find the same ones elsewhere, I just bought them from here to take advantage of the lifetime warranty.
