09 27 inch imac surgery

HDD failure sparked a need to upgrade to duel HDD set up, owc ssd data doubler kit replaced optical drive and wd caviar black 2tb replaced loud 1tb seagate.

Repair was easy as pie, although I do have experience repairing things. I would say that if you have the right tools, like the ifixit pro tool kit you will walk through this in an hour.

I did not purchase the temp sensor adapter for the new wd hdd, instead installed fan speed app that runs off the smart senors that are in every drive.

My computer is cruising now, unreal start up times for all of the adobe creative suite, love it!

Only problem now is my lady wants me to do the same thing on her rig.

Best of luck guys/gals it is the best $250 I have spent in a long, long time.

The only thing I can tell you to do before spend hours trying to boot osx is to clear your PRAM!!!! If you don't you will be stuck in a loop of "cant install" messages.

Hold down command + option + p + r right after you hear reboot and hear the apple chime, the system will then reboot again and you will be at a fresh install screen.
