Hi All, Cool update here. There is another setting under ‘Accessibility’ -> ‘Zoom’ -> ‘Zoom Filter’ where one of the options is grayscale. This turns the whole phone to grayscale when zoomed (three finger tap). My phone was somehow changed to zoom at a really low zoom level and that setting was set on. There is no way to see why the grayscale is set this way unless you stumble on this! Maybe they could put an alert if this is set and you are monkeying around with any of the color filter controls. Thanks for suggesting things David and Minho. The screen is still lackluster in color, but I will take that up with iFixit. Maybe they can give me another one to try with more vibrant color. Thanks again for the suggestions.
The same thing happened for me. That cable was by far the shortest and a slight pull of the display up caused the connector to come free. Luckily it wasn't damaged by this. It was pretty unclear to me how that connector fit in as well. It slides in and out parallel to the surface of the mother board, up towards the top of the iMac to unplug and down towards the bottom to plug in. I agree, if I were to do this repair again that is the first interior cable I would disconnect. Maybe a closeup of the cable plugged in and unplugged to show exactly how it engages and disengages would be good as well.
