Here is an image of the pull tabs that Andrew mentioned above. Thanks guys https://i.imgur.com/GoISPkq.jpeg
I went through all this when I initially bought the version without the dongle that had the unlock codes on it. Then they bought out this later version that has the dongle. These companies lie to sell this drastically overpriced tool.
Save your money, it will not remove activation locks on Macbooks. Maybe in previous years, it worked in conjunction with checkm8 (a paid service) it does not anymore. Presumably Apple has patched this vulnerability. Regardless, it was only ever a bypass, not a full removal and therefore the lock would return after the laptop was factory reset. It is still useful to change serial numbers on T2 Macbooks but forget trying to remove activation locks, it is not possible.
MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2017 Logic Board Replacement
Speakers are glued in and quite difficult to remove. You need a good amount of heat an careful prying in my experience. Heat mainly from keyboard side but careful not to felt any keys.
Max hot air temperature is very subjective really as a lot of it depends on air flow speed and distance from nozzle tip to work piece really, also every hot air station is different. As a general idea I would say 480C 65% air speed, but just closely watch for when the solder starts to liquify. EFI chips are usually not too hard to remove in my experience.
In step 16 (see here https://i.imgur.com/jbmTEsg.png) there are three screws retaining the inboard LCD connector cover. There is a piece of tape covering the centre screw, and it had me stumped for a minute (I am not vwery smart, am I 😂)
Yes, these steps work with any glued in Macbook battery from 2013 up until the present day. Well in regard to the actual cutting of the adhesive that is. Obviously different models have different physical layouts in regard to where is best to insert the cutting card, battery disconnection etc. Best to always refer to the ifixit guide if possible for the details.
Yes, grab has no finesse at all. Grabbing and ripping are what makes the whole process a potential nightmare :)
So easy to refit the logic board with all the flexes taped back out of the way. The only way to go IMO https://i.imgur.com/1fiRGhe.jpg
One tip to make logic board removal and replacement easier, is to carefully tape all the flexes back out of the way. This makes it a lot easier, trust me. Paul Daniels of FlexBV fame taught me this https://pldaniels.com/flexbv/ See photo of taped back flexes here https://i.imgur.com/eriX0KV.jpg
