When using non-manufacturer water filters, the fit of the cheap filter is not exact. It may fit most of the time, but there will be instances where water will not flow thru the filter, because the cheap filter does not line up properly. If you use cheap filters, then be aware you will have problems with water flow occasionally. Everytime a manufacturers designs a new refrigerator, they design a new water filter housing and only a single assigned filter will fit perfectly.
