I fixed a few of these... Your issue is more than likely to be with the graphics chip. Easy way to tell if this is your issue to open up your Xbox360 and apply downward pressure to the graphics chip when turning on your 360. This doesnt always work!! The only two ways to fix it are a: X-Clamp (google it) or b: get the graphics chip re-flowed. All the best Justin
Firstly error codes follow the link below its pretty comprehensive. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbo...-360-error-codes.htm E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU. Firstly try a new AV cable. Secondly the Hana or ANA chip does sometimes develop dry joints, taking a thin tipped soldering iron to the pins of the device is the only solution to that. If its the graphics chip causing the error you could either try the X-clamp solution (google it) or you could try getting it re-flowed... whatever you do dont wrap your 360 up in a towel or take a paintstripper heatgun to it in order to try and reflow the graphics chip (You will damage the chip internally if you do so ;) ) Easy way to tell if your graphics chip is at fault is to open up your 360 and apply downward pressure to...
The main thing that people do by mistake when fitting a new hinge is inadvertently tear the top screen ribbon. This will make the tops screen flash as if its going to come on and then go black - Your DS power light will also flash as this issue will prevent your DS from booting. Things to check - make sure the top screen ribbon is fully inserted into the connector, I know it sounds simple but its an error that lots of people make. If this doesnt work and you cant see a tear in the ribbon either, I'm afraid its a new top screen. Although obviously it'd be a new top screen if the cable has a tear in it. Regards Justin Bayliss
