One option to look at is which video card you're using. For example, on mine, the integrated (Intel) video has gone out, and the computer is prone to system halts. If I have it on an external monitor, works fine. I currently have a utility, gfxCardStatus, to force it to use the higher performance card.
One thought is the number on the front is the manufacturer ("LSSP") and dimensions ("031420") of the battery. (For example, see here: http://www.gmbattery.com/product/showpro...)
