This sounds like it could be an ECU/PCM issue. ECU stands for Engine Control Unit. PCM stands for Powertrain Control Unit. Different makes and models use different terms. ECU, ECM, PCU, PCM, and probably others. This is a computer module that controls the engine and/or powertrain. If it's going bad, it could feel like your vehicle has lost it's brain, which is effectively what this part or parts are.

Appears to be a Torx. Probably somewhere between T5 and T9. I'm not seeing a pin in the center, so it does not appear to be Torx Security.

This guy has a pretty good video on replacing the blower motor. There could be twigs, leaves, and other debris in the fan, so it’s possible you could remove it, remove any debris, blow compressed air through it, and it will work just fine. However, watch the video. See how involved it is for your level of IFixIt comfort. Looking around online, the part runs about $60 with a new fan on it so you should not have to remove the old fan and put it on a new motor. Motor alone is about $30. It’s a plastic fan, plastic degrades over time, and after 30 years, you might wanna consider replacing the whole thing so that you don’t have to deal with a replacement fan later. Don’t put ribbon cables in an ultrasonic cleaner. Fluid can creep into the cable. The bad thing about an ultrasonic cleaner is that after you use it you have to clean it. One idea to avoid this is to put cleaning solution in an empty, cleaned out, plastic peanut butter or Nutella jar. Put the parts to be cleaned in the solution in the jar. Put the jar in the ultrasonic cleaner. Fill the ultrasonic cleaner with water.

YouTube is filled with suggestions on removing stripped screws. However, look carefully because some of the methods are fine for removing a screw with a stripped head from wood, but would destroy something plastic, like your Switch. Don’t use a propane torch to heat the screw and don’t use any sort of impact tool. It’s an art form and some methods won’t work at some times. Plastic welding is an option. Plastic welding follows the same basic principle as metal welding. Add material, apply heat, everything fuses together. With plastic welding, there are lots of different types of plastic. However, plastic welding in the auto industry has been a thing for some time, so it’s more likely you can have success. Nylon is the plastic I read about in use in radiators. An airless plastic welder is little more than a soldering iron, but I have found advantages to them over a soldering iron. Mostly the tip is very large so heat can be applied over a large area.
