I am Jessa Bethany Jones. Or Burdett---my married name. I'm never sure how to answer that simple question "What is your name?"
I am the microsoldering mom, and you can read about my path to that name here:
I perform microsoldering miracles every day for devices that are sent to me from around the world. You can '''find my mail in repair business online at: iPad Rehab.''' Click the link and fill out a form if you need a quote for any microsoldering support. I came from the DIY community, and I love to help out my peeps. While I work primarily on iPads and iPhones, I do see a few MacBooks, Android phones, and even a Roomba or car key project every now and then.
In my former life, as a researcher with a PhD in human genetics, my world revolved around trying to understand the different dances of molecules inside normal tissue versus cancerous versions of the same stuff. And teaching. I've always loved the art of teaching complex topics to introductory audiences.
Four kids, and a bunch of beat up iPads later.....I realized the profound similarity of the simple march of electrons in orderly rows inside a logicboard with the charge-based movement of current inside neurons. Both seemingly basic processes result in a magnificent transformation into something that seems so vibrantly alive when all is working well, and so profoundly dull when it's not.
I started iPad Rehab a few years ago, and now we have a fully automated mail in repair business that serves hundreds of individual repairs shops in the US and Canada, as well as individual mail in repairs all over the globe. Soon we are going to offer weekend mini courses in Practical Microsoldering and Board-level troubleshooting at our Rochester, NY location.
In addition, I have trained some local "mommyfixits" from the stay-at-home mom community to be mobile device repair technicians. If you're a stay at home mom with a broken phone---get crackin' mama! iFixit has some amazing resources. You can do this!

What repair tip/trick have you learned lately? Here at the Wireless Repair Expo I just learned about iFixit Pro--LOVE IT! In our own silo's, we all make tiny discoveries...
Source for rough in box transformerI have replaced a damaged relay on my M&S N350 whole house intercom system motherboard, and miraculously, the whole thing...
Ответ на "Why is my screen darker on the lower right side?"One of your two backlight circuits is not working. The common causes would be water damage at the connector or backlight filter—-both microsoldering jobs.
Ответ на "Disfunction after Battery exchange"This is definitely screen damage. A replacement screen will solve. You have to be extremely careful near the bottom of the screen when opening iPhone X—-this is typical damage that nearly everyone encounters the first time they open an iPhone X.
Ответ на "iPhone 7 no longer boots up after battery calibration"What made you decide it needed a new battery to begin with? One of the ways the tristar chip fails is “can charge, but only if the battery is not stone dead” Are you sure you didn’t have a tristar fault to begin with? If so, send it to your local microsolderer for a new tristar chip.
Ответ на "Shaking camera iPhone 8"This sounds like a parts problem. Replace the camera, there is most likely damage that is causing the focus mechanism to act haywire making the shaking effect.
Ответ на "I have purple and green lines that change every so often"Can to tell if this is just the effect from the screen protector? That maybe the case. Otherwise you could have damaged your lcd and would need to be replaced to remove the lines completely.
Ответ на "How do I wash my jacket?"Did you check the recommendations on the jacket tag? What kind of material is it? I would wash it on a cold cycle, mild soap and hang to dry.
Ответ на "iPhone XS Max Motherboard starting to smoke?"You have a short circuit on the logic board. This is a common problem, but it doesn’t have an easy solution. There are tons of videos on my YouTube channel (iPad Rehab Microsoldering) showing identifying and solving short circuits. On a Xsmax there’s no “common spot” and it could be between the double stacked layers of the logic board. This is every microsolderers favorite problem to solve—once you identify the cause of the short that is usually the only thing wrong. I’d find a local microsolder who has a microscope and thermal camera to help you find your short.
Ответ на "iPhone stuck on red battery screen"You need to confirm that your phone is actually attempting to charge the battery—-to do that, use a usb ammeter. This tool will tell you if the phone is consuming charging current (and therefore charging) or not—then you have something you can troubleshoot. The *most common* reason an iPhone X is not charging is lint in the charge port—clean out with a toothpick. The *most common* reason an iPhone X is showing the Apple logo loop is a drop of water under the flood illuminator which is attached to the ear speaker assembly at the top of the screen (there’s a long flex from the top of the screen to the motherboard). You can disconnect that part and see if the phone will boot without it. Follow an iFixit guide for disassembling the phone—it is easy to damage the screen when removing if you haven’t done it before. Good luck!
Ответ на "Worth trying to repair after water (coffee) damage?"No way to know in advance, but I just fixed one like this yesterday. Toddler spilled coffee down it. After cleaning the motherboard and replacing the top case it works great. Investing in the drivers to open macbooks is a good general household expense, then you’ll have them on hand for next time.
Ответ на "Why do I get these Flexgate like dark areas."One of your backlight strips of LEDs are not working. This is either damage to the screen or the motherboard. Both are repairable. If you want to try DIY repair, the first step is to rule out a bad screen—but that can be expensive since it is more common for this to be water damage to the motherboard. Motherboard repair requires Microsoldering so it’s doable but requires special tools and equipment and training/experience.
