I am baking my MBP right now, it is cooling down as I write this. Same model, 15” early 2011. It started getting reddish on the Apple while loading Mac OS, then turned off, and after that not even a chime!! I took it apart, Carefully removed all old thermal paste etc. I watched closely what happened in the Owen, and noticed that there is nothing to see, EXCEPT- the ATI GPU gets small tiny bubbles around it, and it looks like the whole chip is “sweating”. Very interesting, all other chips looked untouched by the heat, but the faulty ATI GPU was sweating and bubbling….it makes me guess that may be a sign of the factory defect of these chips.
