My name is Chase Crawford. I am currently employed at IFixit and a physics major at CalPoly. I enjoy taking things apart and (hopefully) putting them back together.
I am a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and hockey goalie. I play drums and ride motorcycles. In my free time, I try to learn Java and Matlab. My dream is to be a stuntman and fix things while I'm at it. My favorite TV shows are "One Punch Man," and "Rick and Morty."
I have a metal collarbone, two dogs (Moxi and Bandit), I'm Jewish, born in Colorado, and am currently part of a project to build a computer out of old PlayStation 3's.
Lightning connector/loudspeaker fix gone wrongSo I went to replace the loudspeaker and lightning connector/headphone jack and everything was going really well and then...
Possibly bricked phone, don't know if micro-solder will workHello all, I have had quite the project trying to fix my old phone, but it has finally come for my time as an amateur...
Answer to "Why wont system power up"You can always test to see if your power supply is working with a voltmeter if you have one. They're are some cheap ones if you don't and I think they're good to have around. Other than that, I would just start reading through the PS4 teardowns and see if you can find anything more specifically related to your console. Answer to "My Lenovo A1000 suddenly Shut down and it won't turn back on!"The more detail you can provide about what might have happened, the more likely someone will be able to help. In the mean time, you should try reading through this and looking for parts that may be the cause of the problem so you can look to replace them. Lenovo Ideatab A1000 Repair
Answer to "Why is iPhone 5s restarting after some minutes of usage?"Can you elaborate more on what you mean by high current problem? Sending too much current through an electronic device can burn out resisters and blow out capacitors, which could be the problem. Other than that, the battery could just be getting disconnected. The panel covering the battery connectors is pretty important, so be sure that it isn't coming off (but also be sure you don't put a wrong screw into the board). Good luck
Answer to "PS4 Won't Turn On, Unresponsive power button and eject button only bee"The 3 beeps usually have a specially indication of a problem in general, but Sony historically likes to just have 3 beeps be the generic "something is wrong" code, which really isn't helpful. It sounds to me like the power supply being ripped out caused some unknown problem for it not turning on, but also caused a problem with the disc drive than can be replaced. If it can be turned on, replacing the disk drive isn't a problem, but thats not helpful if it doesn't turn on. My best advice would be to take a look at this page and toy around with it until someone more knowledgeable with the PS4 comes along Sony PlayStation 4 Repair P.S something might have gotten rattled or shorted with the motherboard, which becomes a whole other problem on it's own, but I can't think of any reason why that would happen. P.S.S If you ever have any problems with a PS3, come find me. there's a lot of fun things to do with those
Answer to "New iMac 5k 2017 CPU is Upgradable?"I don't know much about Macs, but I do know they much prefer people buy new things instead of upgrading. My guess is no, but it looks the people here might know better: https://9to5mac.com/2017/07/17/imac-upgrade-i7-64gb-ram-youtuber/ From what I read, it sounds pretty intense. Best of luck, I hope it works
Answer to "HOW TO UNLOCK MY PHONE SAMSUNG GT-E1272? not a samsung GT-E2120."I would try asking your question again more clearly. You said SAMSUNG GT-E1272, but then said it wasn't that. Usually phones don't have a "key" to unlocking them either. You might find some sketchy solutions online for older phones, or it might just need to be reset entirely. IF however, the phone is stolen, there is a chance that it just completely destroys itself when trying to be unlocked. More likely though, I would imagine it has some sort of encryption, which can't be broken into. I don't know much about this generation of phones though.
Answer to "Could I put a iPhone 7 camera in an iPhone 7 plus?"I have never taken apart an Iphone 7 or 7 plus, but looking at the compatibility listings here on IFixit, It doesn't look like it would work out. If you have the parts already and want to try it, I would love to hear if it works or not, but I wouldn't spend any extra money in my opinion. Best of luck though
Answer to "How do I recreate connectivity when PIN are broken"I had a similar problem with the digitizer on my iphone 5s and unfortunately couldn't fix it on my own. To my understanding, you either need to take it to a specialist or call it there, which is unlucky because it's such a tiny part that makes such a large difference. From what I learned from being at IFixit, you can try carefully to bend the leads out or clean it, which may or may not work. Best of luck, I feel your pain (RIP Iphone 5s)
Answer to "My phone won't turn on."I don't know about this phone in particular, but my phone was run over 3 times and the logic board didn't get damaged, so I don't think that would occur with your phone (don't quote me on this though). If it is an old phone, it could be the battery just finally gave out as they do. If you're curious, here is what causes them do give out eventually: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/artic... My best advice would be to take a look at this teardown, but note that it has a repair ability score of 2/10, which is unfortunate. You can also take a look at the battery replacement as well. Answer to ""An unexpected error has occurred""Did it have a name or number for the error? If it does, try plugging it straight into google to see if anyone else has had it before. I'm not certain, but my best guess would be that it might be trying to read something other than the USB with the bootloader on it first and it doesn't like that. If nothing else is plugged in, it could be that there is something wrong with the USB port or with the flashdrive not communicating with the motherboard.
