HyperX Cloud III Power Button Not Responding
The HyperX Cloud III does not turn on or off, and remains unresponsive even when the power button is held down.
Disassembling or attempting to open this device automatically voids the warranty.
Any unauthorized repair or modification not performed by the manufacturer or an authorized service center will render the warranty null and void.

Button Hardware Failure
If you own the Wireless version, it is possible that the HyperX Cloud III power button is physically stuck or worn out.
You can try to clean it as there can be dirt or moisture under the power button, affecting its mechanism.

Battery Failure
If you own the Wireless version, the HyperX Cloud III may be drained from power. You need to plug in the given USB-C end into the HyperX Cloud III charging port.
- Light green: charging.
- Solid green: fully charged.
- Red: extremely low battery.
We recommend letting the device charge completely before use.
If you own the Wired version, the HyperX Cloud III may be disconnected from power. You need to plug in the charge cable into your USB-C or USB-A device port when you want to use the HyperX Cloud III.
Ensure that the charge cable is securely connected at all ends. If the HyperX Cloud III does not appear to charge, you can:
- Unplug and plug in the HyperX Cloud III linked jack cable into the jack to USB-C cable.
- Unplug and plug in the USB-C in the USB Dongle if you use the dongle to connect your headset.
- Try another USB Dongle. You can buy one or use another one if you do not have the original dongle, any USB-C to USB-A dongle should work.
Assembly Issues
The cable connecting the button to the main circuit board can have the following damages:
- The cable shifted over time due to vibration, drops or thermal expansion.
- Oxidation on the contacts can interrupt the signal.
In these cases, no electrical signals are sent to the motherboard.
If the device has been opened before for previous repairs, the cable could have been wrongly reconnected to the power button. So the button physically clicks but the motherboard does not receive the command to power on.
System Drivers Outdated or Missing
The HyperX Cloud III relies on software interfaces called drivers to interpret the onboard controls, including the power button. It allows your operating system to communicate with the HyperX Cloud III, through the use of a firmware, which is an embedded software within the headset that controls core functions. If the drivers are missing or outdated, physical interactions with the HyperX Cloud III may not be detected by your operating system.
First, make sure the official HyperX NGENUITY software is downloaded on your computer. This software ensures the latest drivers are used by the HyperX Cloud III.
However, if the problem persists, you can try to update the drivers manually.
To prepare before updating the system drivers on a Windows OS, ensure that:
- Your operating system meets minimum requirements:
- At least 2GB of RAM
- USB 2.0 or higher port available
- It is fully charged or connected to power.
When the preparation is complete:
- Open the device manager by selecting Windows + R, enter devmgmt.msc, and select enter.
- Select the Scan for hardware changes icon.
- Find the HyperX Cloud III under the Sound, video and game controllers section.
- Perform a right-click on the device, and select Update driver.
- Select Let me pick from a list, then select USB Audio Device / USB Audio Class 2.0.
- Reboot your computer.
To reinstall the drivers manually, once the preparation is complete:
- Open the device manager by selecting Windows + R, enter devmgmt.msc, and select enter.
- Find the HyperX Cloud III under the Sound, video and game controllers section.
- Perform a right-click on the HyperX Cloud III, and select Uninstall device.
- Select OK to confirm the HyperX Cloud III uninstall.
- When the uninstall is complete, unplug the HyperX Cloud III and reboot your computer.
- Plug the HyperX Cloud III in your computer.
Motherboard Failure
If all other software and hardware failures have been ruled out, the motherboard is the most likely culprit.
In that case, replace the motherboard.
