Dirty keys
If your Lenovo T440S Thinkpad does not display any words when you attempt to type, one reason for this could be that the keys you are using are dirty. I suggest trying other keys on the keypad. If other keys work, try taking off the keys that were not working and clean them as well as the keypad. Sometimes dirt may get under the keys and cause them to be unresponsive.
Broken keypad
Another issue that could cause the keypad to be unresponsive on your Lenovo T440S Thinkpad could be that the keypad is broken and may need to be replaced. Before making any decisions, put it into BIOS mode. BIOS mode basically manages the connection between the keypad and the operating system of the Lenovo. To put the Lenovo in BIOS mode, hold the power button until it is completely shut down. Then, power your Lenovo back on and once the start up logo appears, press F2. Once your Lenovo is powered on, attempt typing again. If the keypad is still unresponsive, the keypad more than likely needs to be replaced. Battery does not hold a charge
Throughout the devices lifespan the battery’s quality degrades from the numerous charging cycles it experiences. The display is one of the most sensitive components of a laptop, being made usually out of glass or clear plastic. Any stress or impact the laptop experiences will usually result in the display being damaged.
