Phone Won't Turn On
Having issues starting the Motorola Cliq? Try this!
Display is Asleep
Before delving into the guts of your Motorola Cliq, first press the Home button on the lower part of your touch screen. Your phone may be in sleep mode.
Device Turned Off
Hold down the on/off button for 3 seconds firmly. Make sure you're pushing the button hard and long enough because the button requires significant pressure to turn the phone on.
If the phone still hasn't turned on, try removing the battery and charging it with the wall charger and putting it back in. If the phone still fails to start up, your battery may need to be replaced.
If the phone is still not turning on, then you may have a damaged or faulty motherboard. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motherboard.
If, after following all of the steps above and your phone is still not turning on properly, the problem may be the display. If there is a crack in the screen or if only parts of the screen light up, the problem is likely related to the screen. You can follow this guide screen installation guide to replace the screen.
Phone is Not Getting Reception
You just can't seem to get service.
Cell phones don't receive service everywhere. Your phone's service will vary by service provider, but will likely become more poor or disappear entirely as you move towards less populated areas, mountainous regions, or out of the country. To receive service again, move towards an area that is more likely to have cell phone towers.
If you are in a location in which you previously received service or are sure receives service from your carrier then your carrier's local cell tower may be broken or down for repairs. To inquire about whether cell towers are down, contact T-Mobile Coverage Customer Support. If the towers are not down in your area you will need to replace the antenna.
If you are still not able to get reception then you may have a damaged or faulty motherboard. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motherboard.
Your earpiece or rear speakers aren't working like they should.
Muted or Low Volume
If you can't hear the caller or other sounds coming from the earpiece or other audio outputs, your volume may be muted or set to a low setting. To change the volume settings, please consult the Motorola Cliq user manual.
If the earpiece is still not making any sound, try turning off the phone, taking out the battery, putting it back in, and powering the phone back on. If it still doesn't make any noise, you likely are dealing with a faulty or broken earpiece.
Bad Rear Speakers
If either rear speaker isn't making noise, try turning off the phone, taking out the battery, putting it back in, and powering the phone back on. If it still doesn't make any noise, you likely are dealing with a faulty or broken rear speaker. To replace the rear speaker, follow the repair guide here.
Bad Headphone Jack
If, when headphones are plugged into the 3.5mm auxiliary port, the headphones aren't making any sound, first check to see if the headphones are faulty by plugging them into another device you know is working. If the headphones are working fine in that device, the problem is likely the auxiliary port, which will need to be replaced. To replace the auxiliary port, follow this guide.
Keyboard Isn't Working
Uh oh! Your slide-out keyboard buttons aren't working.
Broken/Damaged Keyboard or Buttons
If your keyboard buttons aren't working, try turning off the phone, taking out the battery, putting it back in, and turning the phone back on. If the buttons still aren't working, you will need to replace the keyboard.
If replacing your keyboard doesn't solve the problem, you most likely have a broken motherboard. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motherboard.
Camera Isn't Working
Your camera isn't working or is taking blurry pictures.
A blurry picture can be caused by a dirty lens. This can make the autofocus malfunction or block light coming into the camera. To solve this, try taking a lint-free cloth and gently wiping off the lens and the area around the lens using small circular motions.
If pictures are still coming out blurry, you may be dealing with a damaged or broken camera. To replace your camera, follow this guide.
If replacing your camera doesn't solve the problem, you most likely have a broken motherboard. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motherboard.
