If the food in your Ninja Foodi DZ401 cooks much slower than expected despite following temperature and time recommendations, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Incorrect Installation of Baskets
When the basket is misaligned or not fully inserted, it can affect the cooking time by limiting the heat within the device.
- Check for blockages in the grooves the basket inserts into.
- Ensure the basket is properly seated in the unit. The basket should make a clicking sound when locked into place or when removed.
- Check for damage to the basket and/or to the unit's interior. If damaged, you may need to replace the basket.
Poor Air Circulation
An air fryer cooks with hot air. Poor air circulation causes the food to cook slowly by not allowing heat to reach the food for the necessary time.
- Ensure the unit has 5 inches of open space on all sides.
- Check for damage to the crisper plate; use the crisper plate to ensure airflow to the bottom of the food. If damaged, you may need to replace the crisper plate.
- Avoid lining the basket with foil or parchment paper; this blocks airflow throughout the basket.
Low Power Draw from the Circuit
If multiple appliances are plugged into the same circuit, power loss to your device may occur.
- Inspect the power cord for damage or fraying. If damaged, you may need to replace the power cord.
- Unplug all other appliances on the circuit.
- Plug the air fryer into an outlet on a different circuit. Use a multimeter to check voltage and amperage draw. (The unit uses 1690 watts of power, so it must be plugged into an outlet on a 15-amp circuit breaker)
