Blue Screen of Death
This is an error screen which indicates a system crash. The operating system is no longer able to operate properly.
Overheating Device
Devices commonly overheat when they have been used for an extended period of time, especially when intensive programs are being run. Intensive programs take up a large amount of RAM, CPU, and GPU which then makes the battery work harder.
Temporarily stop using the device to allow it to cool down. If the problem continues, invest in an external cooling device for your laptop, like a cooling pad.
Memory Problems
RAM (Random Access Memory) gets exhausted over time and can lead to your computer freezing or the Blue Screen of Death. Bad RAM or corrupted files may be causing the issue, getting rid of both of these can help get the device running again.
To potentially help memory problems delete any unnecessary files.
- Open the Windows logo “Start” button, located in the lower left corner.
- Select the “Settings” Gear-shaped Settings icon.
- Go to “System”.
- Go to “Storage”
- Turn on “Storage Sense” to delete any unnecessary files automatically.
Another option is to invest in external storage devices.
Frozen Device
The screen is frozen on one image and will not respond to further instruction.
Outdated/Corrupted Drivers
Device drivers are an integral part of software and allow the device to run smoothly and effectively. Monitors often freeze because drivers are out of date and can not run programs properly anymore.

Operating System Issue
Intensive programs take up a large amount of RAM, CPU, and GPU which then makes the battery work harder. This can create a strain on the operating system and cause the device to freeze.
- Press “Ctrl+Alt+Delete”
- Click on “Task Manager”.
- Proceed to end the program that may be taking a lot of computing power from your system. These are the programs that take high percentages of your CPU.
- Right-Click the program, then click “End Task”.
Keyboard Malfunctioning
The keys on the keyboard are not responding or are broken/missing.
Keys Stuck in Place
Keys are usually not broken, just a little bit dirty from everyday use. It is important to take good care of any device and clean it regularly.
- Spray compressed air between and underneath the keys to remove debris that may be causing the keys to stick.
Speakers Malfunctioning
The speakers produce low-quality sound or cut out often.
Speakers Are Dirty
The quality of sound can be affected if debris is clogging the speakers. It is important to be careful with food or drink items around technology in order to prevent malfunctions.
Speakers Disconnected
If cleaning the speaker ports does not work, some of the internal wires may be disconnected . Look here for a guide on how to reconnect or replace your speakers One Education Infinity Speaker Replacement
Short Battery Life
The device runs out of battery quickly after a full charge (battery cannot hold a charge).
Battery Use
Device age and amount of use can greatly affect the battery life. One factor that can increase device battery life is simply changing your settings to be more efficient. Lowering the screen brightness and amount of time before the monitor goes to sleep will optimize the battery life.
Use windows battery saving settings to mitigate battery usage.
- Open the Windows logo “Start” button, located in the lower left corner.
- Select the “Settings” Gear-shaped Settings icon.
- Go to “System”.
- Go to “Power & Sleep” then customize a power plan.
- For more advanced settings, click “Additional Power Settings”.
Faulty Battery
If the device is old then the battery may have simply worn down and need replacement. However, if the device is new then the battery may be faulty. Depending on how long the user has had the device, this may be under warranty.
