Problem running games on my old ps2 fat
Hello,
Well after many years I have decided to repair my old PS2 fat model. Since I am kind of a handy guy myself I tried to fixed it by but I could not find answer to my problem anywhere on the internet, Problem is, when you turn it on and press reset button on console system resets but game does not start loading at all. I dont even get that red screen I used to get sometimes, When I dissasambled it, I have tried doing that again and then I saw that after pressing reset my cd did not even start to spin. After watching some videos on yt I tried to “calibrate” it by twisting gears in the back of the console and then for a one time it started spinning but then it stopped. Then I tried lifting laser lens and sliding it all the way to the back and I noticed that it moves back to the center once I start it. Also on a restart I can see that laser itself aint “dead” cause when I press reset button laser starts glowing and then it just stopps. After doing al these tries I really did not know what else I could try to do so any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Antonio
Update (10/27/2018)
Hi again,
So after couple of days, I have listened to your advice and tried swapping the laser from another console I got used which just had disc tray problem. After I saw that same thing occurs (laser blinks and than stops) when I replaced other laser which works perfectly on other console I tried to put original laser to other console and it worked there normally.
So to summerize:
boots up normally, there is no messages on tv like “disc read error”, responds to controller and reads memory cards fine. I tend to think that somehow console does not recogizes that disc has been inserted. At this point I really have no idea what to do next so I filmed it so you can see and maybe help me out. bump
Best regards,
Antonio
