Why does my brush bar not spin?

Dyson Ball Animal

The Dyson Ball Animal was released early 2014, identified by model number DC 65. This Dyson vacuum was built off of the previous DC 41 model. The DC 65 model provides better suction power and the brushbar is 25% more powerful. It also is suitable for two more surfaces.

Why does my brush bar not spin?

I have recently replaced the entire head module after the old one burned out and things were working good for a few months. Now the brush bar has stopped working again. The issue started with the brush bar spinning intermittently when I lowered the handle to engage to brush bar. The brush bar would only engage when I held the handle at certain angles. Now it won’t engage at all. When I remove the head I still have suction. I suspect this might be a wiring issue. Any ideas on what parts need replaced?

The gear belt drive that connects to small brush was twisted off. – no way to repair or replace (no part number available) – replacing cleaner head is only option. The labor time to replace this part is what makes it more costly than replacing a cleaner head. I found the small brush had a lot more hair coiled at the broken spot than large brush on other side of the belt gear drive for large brush had. In case anyone wants to do preventive maintenance – Remove the small brush, remove the round triangle part (need long torx T-10 tool) clean out hair/debris wound on shaft that drives brush

Not helpful. I have already read the page your refrencing and that is not the problem. I am having the same problem as the person above, and I also think this is an electrical problem. Arielle, maybe you should read those articles yourself to see if they answer the question, before you answer with a quick click pat answer.

Agreed! And for the cost of these vacuums, they should last longer than 6 months😡

Why is there no dyson ball animal 2 replacement head? They say the dyson ball animal head is the replacement for the animal 2. For $100 replacement head to break soon after repair with the same issue is very frustrating. Was there a known issue with the animal 2 head? This is the 4th dyson and this is the only model that seems to break quite often. Also it has all of its suction and never lost it but the motor in the head of the vacuum is what is broken for the second time on this vaccum. The vaccum works to vaccum hardwood but doesn't work on carpet anymore. Quite upset that a $500 to $600 vaccum has very minimal help and replacement parts are not from the same model and don't last. All the pages on dyson don't help at all either they also seem like those pages claim that the user is the problem when the problem is the vaccum.

Yesterday I bought a dyson dc25 on Facebook for $20. I went to high school with the guy, so I knew he wouldn't sell me anything that he wouldn't guarantee. He didn't know much about, but said he had other vacuums to replace. I brought it home, sure enough the roller didn't work. It looked brand new and didn't have any cloggs or blockages. I Googled the problem. Within 5 mins, I unplugged, let it sit for a few minutes, plugged back in. Stepped on the red lever in the back, reclined it down to the floor, turned on power button, then pressed the roller button for 5 seconds. It's worked like a champ ever since. Got me an expensive vacuum cleaner for $20 and a 2 minute YouTube video. Karma gave me a little payback today lol
