How to connect Wi-Fi antenna connector

I had opened up my MacBook pro 2015 to fix another problem and had accidently disconnected the 3 ports for the Wi-Fi and I've been trying now for 2 days to connect them back because now the internet isn't working for my MacBook but there just not connecting and staying in place, I had also read on a previous forum from someone else stating how to connect them but it's not working for me so please help me and if you have another solution that doesn't require me having to replace the whole screen which will cost me around $300 please say so.

The AirPort board connections look OK, The center and right cable ends are a bit deformed so they don't have the ability to grip. Carefully press the sides in a little bit (not to hard as you can snap the park off)

When you press them back on only press the connector down when you are sure you've got it centered (Its a bit of feel here that counts).

Are you sure your issue is the antenna connections? Often I find the I/O cable is the source of the problem. Review this guide MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 I/O Board Replacement see if reseating it fits your problem or you may need a new I/O board.

What does the io board have to do with the connectors not connecting?

Also another thing everytime I try connecting one of the cables after connecting another one it disconnects all of them and they fall out of place I have another MacBook pro 2015 and for some reason that MacBook pros camera port is tucked a bit further away than mine and the actual wire for the Wi-Fi connectors is glued properly to the camera wire but mine wasn't or I don't recall it being glued together

из

@need_help - The I/O board cable and the board is only an issue if you where trying to fix a WiFi or Bluetooth issue from the start. That is if that is why you had disconnected the cables in the first place.

Not sure I follow what you are saying. The cable ends connectors are likely spread out so they won't grip. That was the point I was trying to express: "The center and right cable ends are a bit deformed so they don't have the ability to grip. Carefully press the sides in a little bit (not to hard as you can snap the part off)" So if you don't tighten the clips then the cables will likely fall off again and not make good enough contact as well.

Not sure what you are facing with the camera cable. How about posting some pictures so we can see.

There are two versions of the 2015 models the Integrated Graphics (IG) and the Discreet Graphics (DG) There are some small differences but the displace assembly is the same between them. Plug in your two systems S/N's here EveryMac - Lookup so you can check what you have

@danj I updated the question the photos are there.

I marked the red for the camera wire and the yellow for the antenna connector. if you look closely at the other MacBook you can see the camera wire is tucked in all the way but on my MacBook it's further out and it won't tuck in no matter how much I try squeezing it in second is that the antenna connector is glued to the top of the camera wire but mine wasn't. I'm asking this cause maybe thats the reason the antennas arent connecting because now the middle wire is a bit too far away to reach the connector point, I've been trying to copy the way the wires look on the other MacBook on mine but the wires are just not in the same position.

The reason I had opened the MacBook was to clean the fan cause it was overheating a bit so I unscrewed the fan screws and lifted it up a bit to clean it, I didn't fully take the fan caging off and the second time I opened it was because the hinge was loose and that was the time where i had unplugged the 3 connectors cause I thought I needed to take of the screen and readjust it but really all I needed to do was tighten the 6 hinge screws which I did shortly after unplugged the antenna connectors and then realizing I can just do that instead.

Is it possible that I screwed the left hinge too much? cause on the left hinge the metal part that holds the screen to the board has the Wi-Fi connector wire connected to it and maybe I tightened it too much and that's why trying to connect the connectors to the airport card isn't working.

I keep trying but it's just not connecting and I can't seem to straighten out the wires as it keeps lifting up by itself Ive been trying to use tape to stick it to the board so it stays still but that hasn't worked also before when I connected the middle connector only and tried to use the internet it worked but the internet was so slow and I was only reaching one bar.

Another weird thing is that when I shut down my MacBook and unplug the battery cable and then plug it back in and try turning on my MacBook it doesn't turn on unless I plug in the charger?

All I see is damaged cable connectors the routing of the wires looks OK and you can't over tighten the hinge screws (otherwise you'll just shear off the head making more of a mess)

Sadly its time to replace the cables! There are two ways the hard-way and the expensive way! If you are skilled you should be able to lift the display panel off after first removing the display assembly following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement then review this MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown so you can see how your display is made once you have the display off you can replace the cable assembly 13" MacBook Pro Right Hinge - Antenna/iSight cable, Apple P/N 818-2781.

If you've got good soldering skills you could just replace the antenna cables alone desoldering them from the antenna unit and then taking the leads from the replacement threading one at a time through the hinge. Do make sure you replace like for like! Here the two damaged cables is what I would focus on.

If all else fails then you'll need to buy a replacement display 13" MacBook Pro Display Assembly, Apple P/N 661-02360

@danj which cables do I need to replace?

Also how do you know that the cables are damaged?

Hi

Have you tried the following

Taking the airport card out and cleaning the 3contacts(card and cable) and carefully aligning the connections and them plugging the card into the board

I have had some small debris get stuck in the circular bit of the airport card which wouldn’t let it connect

Hopefully this answers your question

Thanks:)

@hellomacos I'll try that thanks.

Ok hopefully all goes well

Good luck 👍

из

@hellomacos it did not work unfortunately.

из

Hi

Dan said the centre and right cables look a little deformed so is it just those cables that won’t stick down or is it all 3?

из

@hellomacos that doesn't matter anymore as now I have to have someone solder on new connectors.
