The red light (to show it's charging) no longer comes on when I plug in to charge.
I've tried a replacement N Type Battery, but that didn't power up either...
Does anyone have any ideas what to try next? How tricky are they to take apart - and what are my realistic chances of fixing it anyway....?

@timmotchell if nothing else, there is always hope. Your camera has a couple of fuses, one of those is a power fuse and a charging fuse. I suggest you carefully disassemble your camera (something like this video or these guides Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX30 should help) and check the main board etc. Post some good pictures of what those boards with your QUESTION. that way we can see what you see.
