Where is the power regulation circuit located?

Hey guys,

I'm having some problems with charging on my phone,
seems to be an hardware issue (after New battey+fresh wipe didn't fix it)
Can you tell be where does the chip that controls the charging of the battery is located and what can I replace to fix it?
Thanks! :)

Hi @dorona9478

Have you checked that the USB-C port is OK i.e. not loose, no bent pins or debris lodged in the port, you didn't say?

Here's the ifixit Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra USB-C Port Replacement guide that will help so that you can check if it is securely connected etc.

If it appears to be OK then here's an image the Normal/Fast Charging troubleshooting flowchart taken from the service manual that shows what to check. There's also an image showing the location of the parts mentioned in the flowchart.

Unfortunately there's no parts list in the manual so if one of the capacitors is faulty I don't know what it's value is.

Thanks for the detailed answer :)

Port seems fine, it also charges well.

I also replaced 2 new batteries.

My main problem is that the charging voltage tops @ 4.29V

so the battery can't fill to real 100% (up 4.4V)

it's Same with Wireless charging too, so it can't be the port, right?

What faulty part can cause this issue?

You never mentioned that wireless charging also didn't work correctly.

It uses different components to the cable charging circuit i.e. C7205 and U7010 BUT U7002 is an IC used by both charging circuits so I would start with that one,It could be that one of the other components shown may be impacting on the charge circuit so don't discount them if there's nothing found with U7002

Thanks, but I don't really have experience in soldering chips to the board :/

I can buy and replace the charging port+flex+mic board,

but Do you think it would have any effect on the Charging performance ?

phone does say SUPER FAST CHARGING when connected to PPS charger,

but it doesn't seem to get the full AMPRE input, 3300mah tops.

What does note 20 ultra usually get with an 25W charger?

@dorona9478

Don't know but first check that there's 5V or 9V on the capacitor reference points as indicated in the flow chart.

At least for the wired power connection anyway. Just to eliminate it otherwise you may have to replace the mainboard or learn to live with it as it is.
