A Desktop PC built from off-the-shelf DIY parts, rather than a prebuilt from a major manufacturer. These can also be built by an SI using off-the-shelf parts.

CPU debug light randomly turned on

My pc was left on during the day while I was at work. I returned and the rgb fans on the pc were still on but there was nothing being displayed. I have unplugged and plugged it back in but it wont boot. My keyboard and mouse also have rgb but they don’t light up. Just my fans.

Hi @andrewyate68825,

What is the make and model number of the motherboard and the PSU?

I’m not sure the model numbers I’ll get them when I have time but it is a b550 tomahawk motherboard. And a 500w thermaltake smart rgb psu

Hi @andrewyate68825

Two things you can try:

1.) Try a power refresh and check if it starts OK

Disconnect the power from the PSU and then open the PC case and then either:

a). Remove the coin cell battery from the motherboard (remember which way it is inserted, usually +ve is on top as marked on the battery), and then press and hold the PC Power On button for a full 30 seconds and release. Then reinsert the battery

or

b). Short out the JBAT1 clear cmos header pins on the motherboard as described in the image below

Then reconnect the power to the PSU and check if it turns on OK.

2.) If still no good, use a DMM (Digital Multimeter) and do a paperclip test on the PSU to make sure that all the voltages supplies are there and that they're the correct value.
