If you're using AirPrint, a lot of legacy HPs got bit by the bug, including my M401n. I have an affected printer and mine is of course, one of the ones that lacks the toner DRM of the new lasers and has the bulletproof Canon engine. HP doesn't make them like this anymore, especially after Samsung happened.
I used an old Mac to make the procedure which worked to "fix" my M401n here: Mac - HP AirPrint bug fix for iOS (Works with other printer brands).
