I don't want an automatic lock, I want to be able to add liquid fabric softener mid-cycle. I don't use pods neither do I want to. There has to be a way please! If it would not invalidate my warranty I would drill a hole in the plastic window on the lid so I could pour it in, but sadly can't do that.

What is the model number of the washer?
Have you tried pressing the Start/Pause button to stop the washer during a cycle so that the lid unlocks?

First of all thank you for taking the time to help. Yes I did... but then for whatever reason the wash cycle just goes right back to the beginning again.
Sorry - forgot the Model #, I will have to check.
