Background and Identification
The Nissan Rogue is a compact crossover SUV (sport utility vehicle) produced by Nissan, a Japanese automaker. The Rogue was first released in 2007 for the 2008 model year. As of 2020, the Rogue was Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in the United States. The first-generation Rogue continued to be produced as the Rogue Select for the 2013-2015 model years.
The first-generation Nissan Rogue replaced the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan’s entry-level sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the Nissan Xterra in Mexico. The Rogue was sold with a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine paired to a continuously-variable transmission. It was also called the Nissan Rogue Select between 2014 and 2014. It was sold in three trim levels in the United States: S, SV, and SL. The S trim was the Rogue’s base model, which included an anti-lock braking system, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and power windows. All trim levels were available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The second-generation Nissan Rogue was released in 2013 for the 2014 model year.
Nissan Rogue vehicles include the Nissan emblem, which depicts the name “Nissan” in capital letters on a banner inside of a circle. The name “Rogue” is often included in capital letters on the left-hand side of the rear end of Rogue vehicles. The trim level is generally included on the right-hand side of the rear end of Rogue cars.
