Stop your printer spitting out pages of gibberish! On Linux this is generally a driver issue.

1. Шаг 1 Adding the printer via USB
  Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable.
  
  The USB-B plug goes in the back of the printer.
  
  Make sure the computer and printer are both switched on.

2. Шаг 2
  Go to Start menu > System > Printers if it hasn't opened automatically.
  
  Now click Add printer and look for the make and model.
  
  If you see XP-220 listed in the Epson category, your computer probably has the correct Epson printer driver and you can skip to Step 4.
  
  If you don't see XP-220 as an option, pause here and open the software installer (under Start menu > System by default).

4. Шаг 3
  Linux Mint's stock software "store" has the Epson driver easily available. Search "epson" and the driver should come up as one of, if not the first option.
  
  Click Install. Type in the superuser password it asks for (depending on how your account is set up, this may be your own password or an admin's password).

5. Шаг 4
  When the printer driver is installed, go back to the printer setup.
  
  Now when you add your printer, XP-220 will appear in the long list of Epson models. Select that and the computer will now connect to the printer easily.

6. Шаг 5 Optional
  You can print a test page to make sure the printer is working.
