SSD and RAM Upgrade

I record a lot of screencasts, and needed a quiet device from which I could record virtual machines along with my voiceover. My Mac Mini would do the trick, but needed more RAM and a speedy and quiet drive. This SSD fix looked like a good solution.

The repair was straight forward. I ended up keeping the original HDD for secondary storage and I still cannot hear anything while the machine is running. I am running Bootcamp can can dual-boot OS x/ Windows as well as run any virtual machine environment I choose. Very happy with the results.

Take your time, there are a lot of steps. I laid down a bunch of paper on my desk and put the parts on them with the step number next to each part. This made the reassembly process easier. Test everything before spending a lot of time configuring software. You are working with connectors to power, IR, Bluetooth, multiple drives, and Wifi. Make sure it all works as soon as possible while the process is still fresh. I ended up knocking my second SATA connection loose while sliding the cowling back in. The attached photo shows Windows 8 running virtually from the windows 7 bootcamp partition.
