XBOX 360 RROD Fix Kit

The XBOX 360 had the RROD and diagnosis was in line with the symptoms of the heat sink issue. I figured the kit was not too expensive, so I thought it was worth a shot.

The guide was spot on and the kit provide everything I needed. I took my time and the whole process took about 2 hours to complete. I tend to break things when I rush, so thought best to be cautious. But now that I know how the unit comes apart, I think I could do this fix again in about 30 minutes.

UPDATE: After only a few hours of use, RROD is back 7 days after RROD kit installed. I tightened the heat sink screws and it successfully restarted, only to fail with the RROD after 30 seconds. Going to buy a heat gun and try to reflow the motherboard.

Follow the steps exactly and you'll be good to go. This is my third i fix it experience and all repairs have been 100% successful following the guides. First was replacing dc in jack on a powerbook g4, then hd replacement on a imac 27. Keep it up ifixit...you guys rock!!
