Моя проблема

My wife was noticing that her tablet was not charging anymore. I took it to the local repair guy, he spotted the problem quickly, and showed me to verify. There was corrosion on the charging port, most likely due to moisture since it is in the bathroom when my wife showers to run her music while she gets ready. The repair guy ordered a new charging port from his supplier, and the waiting game began. And by began, I mean it took him 3 weeks to not get back in touch with me when I called him. He told me that his supplier couldn't get it. I was basically on my own. I went to my trusty computer and Googled "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 parts", and viola! Your site was the first on the list. In I go. I enter the model of the tablet, and a wealth of information, to include videos, popped up! I found the charging port I needed, it was in stock (take THAT Mr. Repair Guy!), and ordering was simple.

Along with the parts needed (a charging port in my case), there were a host of tutorial videos and step by step instructions, with pictures, showing me exactly what I needed to do to disassemble, repair and reassemble the tablet. It couldn't have been easier! I am fortunate enough to have inherited an aptitude for these types of repairs from my dad, but it wasn't necessary with the assistance of the videos and step-by-step instructions. While I had it open I inspected the battery, in case that needed to be replaced as well. I was fortunate in that it appeared to be in good condition - no swelling, no signs of overheating, etc. - since it appears that I cannot get a new battery from ANY supplier (and I checked 4 or 5). Replacing the charging port went exactly as described in the video and step-by-step instructions, and in no time (the whole repair, start to finish MIGHT have been 45 minutes) I was up and running. It started charging like it had before. Once it was plugged in I was able to turn it on and test the display, run a few apps to verify that it was, in fact, working. It is back in service, completely thanks to the availability of parts and the excellent instruction provided by this site.

Sites like this pop up all over the place, promising to supply you with the resources you need. While some are better than others, this one actually provides everything they claim, AND they show you how! That is huge in my book! It is one thing to provide parts needed. It is completely a whole different level of service to show you how to do the repairs yourself! The ifixit.com site is now saved to my favorites toolbar should I come across a situation that requires attention in the future. Mr. Repair Guy may be good, but you were the life-saver in this case. AND, I was able to do it myself, saving a $75/hr bench fee!
