The G4's 3.85 V lithium-ion battery is rated for a minimum of 11.2 Wh. While LG's marketing department doesn't make any specific claims about battery life, they've made sure to let us know that the 3,000 mAh battery lasts and lasts.

Going back to the rest of the G4, we lift out the 16 MP rear-facing camera for a closer look.

The camera sports a 1/2.6" image sensor as well as laser autofocus and optical image stabilization. The main focus of discussion, however, has been the camera's f/1.8 aperture.

From this end of the G4, we're also able to catch a glimpse of its IR blaster (to the left of the microphone hole).

Let's just hope that using this phone as a remote doesn't doom it to the couch cushions forever...

The complexity of the rear-facing camera and its image stabilization is even more apparent under X-ray. That frame! Those chips!

The wee camera next door is the front-facing camera; just a simple lens and image sensor, with no OIS mechanism.

And on its side, the rear-facing cam kinda looks like Nessie. Conspiracy? Probably not.

We turn our attention to the headphone jack and tweeze it out of the chassis.

It's a good day when the headphone jack is easier to replace than most components in your headphones, er, earpods.

This audio jack is footloose and fancy-free.

Spring contacts are a great way to connect components; no soldering, no fuss, and a snap to replace.
-
The darkest portions of the X-ray are the metal of the contacts, which carry power and data to and from the audio jack to the motherboard. The rest of the gray is simply the plastic housing.

Another spring-contact-applied component: the vibrator!

The vibrator appears to be a coin vibration motor. The two oblong 'O' shapes are coils of wire, and the dark anvil shape is a weight that spins, making the motor shake.

From the side, the spring contacts get more volume, and you can even see the individual wire filaments in the coils. Neat.

Rear panel and battery can be removed with no tools.

It must kill LG to have to use Samsung RAM chips.
Corporations do not have emotions.
Almost everybody buys from anybody. Samsung sells parts to Apple, etc, etc.
It's all about maximising profit. Do that and nobody cares where the parts come from (unless your corporation can do it cheaper itself.)

Hi. The plastic trim around the screen is all attached is it? There's no way of replacing it without replacing the whole screen?
you could probably use a heat gun to seperate the glass from the from i know you buy just the frame on amazon

There are a LOT of reports of the wireless charging breaking after several weeks to a month of use. As in, the Qi wireless charging ability completely dies. This is unfortunate!
On their website IDT is no recommending the 9025A and has a newer model, the 9025AC. Are these 2 facts related? Will LG upgrade newer ones to this chip?
Hi. My unit was manufactured in may 2015 (as per the serial number found on the retail box) and found out that units manufactured before sept. 2015 has a design flaw. Mine was purchased in june 2015. started to boot loop in oct 25 2015. Returned it to LG. their assessment was for mother board replacement.

Hi all. My G4 H815 was manufactured in June 2015. Mine was purchased on 24 July 2015. started to boot loop on 19 November 2015. Returned it to LG the next morning and just got my motherboard replaced and received a November 2015 unit today. The technician does not know the problem of the unit when asked.

My LG G4 is going through a "Bootloop" I wanted to know if the internal memory could be removed to retrieve the inner contents. That or just fixing the Bootloop seeing how LG admits to this being a defect in most device's in the components of the device.

Same thing happen to my unit, bought in July 2015. Started boot loop and died off subsequently last week. Return to LG and had motherboard replaced.

LG knows of the boot loop issue. It's seems to be a batch where the processor becomes loose from the motherboard. Heat gun and sticking freezer are quick very short term solutions. LG will replace phone or board no real questions asked.

Any ideas on how to fix the bootloop issue?
It can't be fixed as it's not a software issue, it's a hardware issue. The only way to fix it is have LG replace it unfortunately :(

Screen replacement took about a half hour. Heat source was required to separate old screen from frame.

can somebody learned in the ways of motherboards tell me if there's any possible way to pull off pictures, music, notes, etc. after the G4 goes into its bootloop? I have a lot of priceless files and data on this phone I would probably sell my soul for. As far as I know, it's irretrievable. Can someone confirm or deny this?
To anyone considering this phone, stop. This is my second LG G4 that died due to motherboard manufacturing issues. They aren't isolated instances. Most users have had this issue within 6 mos. to 1 yr. of purchasing. Interesting how the phone dies right around the end of its 1-Year Warranty.
I have no interest in having this phone replaced by LG or repaired since I already ordered a new phone. I just want to extract the files. There has to be some way to do this. I find it hard to believe that in December 2016 that this can't be done. The only reason I haven't gone Office Space on this otherwise useless phone is because I still have hope I can retrieve my lost files.
Of course, but only if you have equipment. Only some of repairman can do it.
Put it in the freezer in a Ziploc bag. Wait about an hour. Should boot normal. But will give u a short window to get files off. Once chip starts heat up, jumps into boot loop again. I had good luck sandwiching phone between 2 big ice packs and using my laptop with usb. micro cable download all files needed.
Desolder the eMMC chip and insert it into the correct eMMC chip reader. Unless the data is encrypted, you can access even the things you wouldn’t access through your phone’s file manager. Then you can even change the bootloader, root the phone, download everything eg. documents, load or store backup, perform recovery of your deleted files.. When you’re done, reball the chip back on the motherboard and your phone may work fine if you do everything correctly.
I'm aware the g4 has two external LDI stickers. One in the battery compartment and one on the battery itself. But does it have internal ldi stickers?

Hey, after a waterdamage and a bath in Isopropanolalcohol to save it, my LG G4 reacts normally. Touch, Calls, Cam etc. But the screen stays very very dark. You almost cant`t make out anything. What can it be?

Is there a way to replace whatever part of the phone manages display? I got my LG wet on the weekend. Phone working - but no display. I can live with the sketchy speakers. Been in rice 2 days. Can only answer in my car on bluetooth. it will not "swipe" to answer, etc. on a blacked out screen.
Having issues with screen splitting vertically/glitching. Maintains image just keeping shifting up/and down on left side.Right side of image stays still. Replaced screen/digitizer unit, still the same anyone have any advice?
No Light Display. .. Took my G4 apart to repair micro usb hub and when I put it back together I can no longer see the screen without nothing short of a bright light shining on screen. anyone have a few suggestions of possibilities of what I done wrong? does screen get sealed with something or did misplace the lcd lights maybe?

The seal in front of the camera (removed in step 5) I took off thinking it was just for decoration, but little did I know it also kept debris from entering the camera mechanism! Now, my camera sometimes refuses to boot, but if you take a needle and go around it’s perimeter and clear away dust, it starts to work. In addition, and the reason I came here, is that I now have a more permanent spec of dust behind the lens itself, so I will have to disassemble the camera or get a new one…
